Having an 18000 power requirement, Behemoth is definitely more challenging compared to Proro Bahamut. Equipped with speedy stomping attacks that can outsmart most players, especially newbies. Bosses are special types of enemies that have distinct characteristics, and unique abilities that extremely challenge the player in strategy and combat. These formidable hostile beings are generally required to be defeated to advance the main campaign, to complete primary side quest objectives, and to earn unique rewards.

Behemoth Fight Strategy

The Best Tips for Behemoth:

  • Recommended Party: List of Party Members
  • Recommended Sigils: List of Sigils

Tackling the Behemoth can be challenging for a lot of players, especially for the newbies. However, it is expected that this fight will be one of the hardest levels in the game since it is one of the latest endgame fights that has been added after Lucilius. The Lock Horn Quest requires 17500 Total Power and on paper, it seems not a lot at first glance however, it is expected that it would be harder compared to Proto Bahamut and this is indeed true. Compared to Proto Bahamut which is mostly a mechanic-based fight, where you will be dealing with phases such as Element Phases, Special Attacks, and the like, the Behemoth is more of a straightforward fight. Meaning, that players can expect it as a normal fight that performs like any other regular fight. Weird isn't it? But judging by how Cygames handles things, we will be seeing harder fights from now on which are alternately being released. Ranging from normal fights, and special fights like Lucilius.

With that being said, we've mentioned that the Behemoth is indeed harder than the Proto Bahamut since the fight will require precise timings, split-second decisions, and proper mechanic handling. Now we've learned that players will be dodging a lot of normal attacks in this fight, surely there will be mechanics to pay attention to since the Behemoth will have a regular Bloodthirst Mode like any other bosses. We will be breaking it down and surely, readers will be mastering it in no time. Before we proceed in the actual fight, we want to tackle equipment suggestions first or setups for you to come prepared.

Suggested Setups - Weapons

Of course, at this point, players are expected to have their Terminus Weapons maxed and this is expected for all the characters in their party. However. This means that all of the Terminus Weapons will have level 150 and be imbued with good Vitality Wrightstones for the most part. Or if you find this demanding as of the moment, you can either go with decently leveled Terminus Weapons for your other party members but your main character or the one you are controlling should have at least maxed Terminus Weapon. Using maxed Ascension Weapons will do as well if you do not have the required Terminus Weapons.

Suggested Sigil Setup

Now moving on to the suggested Sigil Setup. We do have two mainstream setups currently when building characters in the game. Either you will sacrifice DPS, by adding a lot of Defensive Utilities or you will sacrifice your defensive utilities to equip a handful of Offensive Utilities. So it's your Go Big or Go Home type of scenario. However, you do not need to worry about this one as we will cover both builds in this guide.

Fight Strategy

Now that we've tackled the best build to use in this fight, it is time for the actual strategy to bring this boss into submission. We will be breaking down Behemoth's attacks so you as a player will effectively learn how to counter each attack and eventually master the the whole fight.

Charge Attack

When the battle starts, Behemoth always charges directly to the player to show its animalistic behavior and cunningness. One to note is almost every attack that the Behemoth will pull off in the entire fight is fast, strong, and can most of the time shoot characters if not avoided. Especially characters that have 30 to 31k HP. So keep this in mind. This is the reason why we suggested using the Defensive Setup, especially if you are just learning the fight. So to counter this move, simply dodge to your left or right and strike the Behemoth's flank. Most of the time, characters will unload all of their skills since they will be dishing out their openers during this time so use it to your advantage. Especially when playing with characters that can CC or Crowd Control enemies, they will be using it during their openers so you can take this to your advantage. Strike while the Behemoth is unable to move.

Exploding Puddles

Watch out as the Behemoth can pull off a wide AOE attack, by placing multiple puddles on the ground. This attack can easily the majority of players especially when they are just learning the fight. Not only the puddles can hit you, but these puddles will resolve with an explosion so keep this in mind. To counter this, simply observe the puddles on the ground and head to the safe spots not covered by the puddles or as usual, perfectly dodge them. This attack can easily be identified since the Behemoth will somersault into the air while casting the attack.

Exploding Three Consecutive Claw Attacks

The next attack on the list is Exploding Three Consecutive Claw Attacks. What it does is the Behemoth will pull off three consecutive claw attacks with a little bit slower animation compared to its other attacks. Watch its telegraphed moves before it does each claw attack and dodge accordingly. followed up with the point-blank stomp that will be resolved with ppoint-blank explosion with multiple puddles that will resolve with explosions as well. To counter this move, simply wait for the animation to end by waiting for the point-blank explosion and then wait for the small puddles to explode as well. After the animation ended, simply gap close to the Behemoth to deal damage. To avoid this attack beforehand, if you notice that the Behemoth will pull off the attack, simply disengage and get as far away as you can.

Claw Barrage

Another attack that the Behemoth will pull off is the Claw Barrage Attack. This ferocious being will start to swing its arms and attack its target slowly at first, followed up faster claw barrage. To counter this move, simply watch the first claw attack and you can simply disengage to avoid the succeeding attacks.

Targeted Explosion

This attack is fairly similar to the mentioned Exploding Puddles attack. However, the main difference is, that after the Behemoth somersaulted into the air, it will pull off a targeted explosion to its target. These puddles are mostly compact and will be placed around the targeted player. Simply dodge away or perfectly dodge the puddles.

Lighting Uppercut

As the name implies, the Lightning Uppercut will pull off a violent uppercut, followed by crawling lightning strikes that move straight toward the target. This attack can surprise players so be on the lookout for this one and simply dodge towards your left or right, avoid the vertical hitbox of this attack, and also avoid the crawling lightning.

Vacuum Spin

Now this is a pretty interesting attack as the Behemoth will pull players around its range by performing a violent spinning attack and finish it off with a point-blank stomp and AOE explosion. To avoid getting pummeled, one can wait for the vacuum animation to end and quickly disengage away from the Behemoth to avoid the explosion.

Summon Ahrimans

While pulling off other attacks, the Behemoth will summon a handful of Ahrimans that will target all of the characters in the field. You can simply ignore them or deal with them as fast as you can.

Overdrive Attack - Chaotic Massacre

Moving on to the hardest part of the fight which is the Behemoth's Overdrive Attack. As the name implies, things will be chaotic and this is no exaggeration. During this phase, the Behemoth will leap into different points around the arena and pull off combination attacks that are fairly similar since these attacks are mostly a combination of his normal attacks. Like for example the Charge Attacks and Exploding Puddles. Notice that there will be a pattern on each explosion so you will know when to dodge. The Behemoth will finish this attack with giant AOE Explosion once again so watch the puddles or perform a perfect dodge to survive the attack.

The key here is to just focus on the mechanics and don't do DPS to effectively learn the attack. However since the Behenmoth can pull off two Chaotic Massacres in the entire fight, the second one is rather more difficult to handle. The main difference is, that when the Behemoth pulls off the second Chaotic Massacre, it will cast a donut-shaped AOE around the battlefield and the safe spot is mostly the arena center only, making it difficult to dodge all of the upcoming charges and stomps. Try your best to remain in the center while dodging the explosions and physical attacks. The player that will be caught up by the purple aura that has been placed outside the safe spot will be inflicted with Slow and mostly will be hit by incoming attacks.

Behemoth Attacks & Counters

Attack Description Counter
Charge Attack  This strategy sounds like a classic tactic in a battle-based game, where timing and positioning are key. It's a smart move to anticipate Behemoth's charge and sidestep to avoid its direct attack, taking advantage of the opportunity to strike its vulnerable flank. It's also wise to capitalize on the opening by unleashing a flurry of skills while the Behemoth is momentarily exposed. This combination of evasive maneuvers and offensive tactics can definitely turn the tide of the battle in your favor.
Exploding Puddles  Beware of the Behemoth's wide AOE attack with puddles on the ground. It can catch many players off guard, especially beginners. These puddles not only damage you upon contact but also explode later, so be cautious. To counter this, watch for puddles on the ground and move to safe spots. You can also dodge the attack when the Behemoth somersaults into the air to cast it.
Exploding Three Consecutive Claw Attacks The Behemoth executes three slower claw attacks in a row. Watch for its telegraphed moves before each attack and dodge accordingly. Afterward, it follows up with a point-blank stomp, which triggers multiple puddles that explode. To counter this move, wait for the animation to finish, including the point-blank explosion and the subsequent small puddle explosions. After it's done, close the gap and attack the Behemoth. To avoid this attack beforehand, disengage and move as far away as possible when you see the Behemoth preparing to execute it.
Claw Barrage This fierce creature will begin by swinging its arms slowly at its target, then quickly unleash a barrage of faster claw attacks.  To counter this move, just observe the first claw attack and then move away to avoid the rest.
Targeted Explosion This attack is quite similar to the Exploding Puddles attack mentioned earlier. However, the main difference is that after the Behemoth somersaults into the air, it performs a targeted explosion toward its target. The puddles are usually close together and placed around the targeted player. Just dodge away or dodge them perfectly.
Lightning Uppercut The Lightning Uppercut is exactly as it sounds: a powerful uppercut followed by lightning strikes aimed straight at the target. This attack can catch players off guard, so stay alert. Dodge to the left or right to avoid the vertical strike and steer clear of the crawling lightning.
Vacuum Spin The Behemoth will drag players within its range with a fierce spinning attack, then conclude with a close-range stomp and AOE explosion.  To avoid getting hit, wait for the vacuum animation to finish, then quickly move away from the Behemoth to avoid the explosion.
Summon Ahrimans While executing other attacks, the Behemoth will summon Ahrimans that target all characters on the field.  You can either ignore them or quickly deal with them.
Overdrive Mode
Chaotic Massacre  Now onto the toughest part: the Behemoth's Overdrive Attack. It's as chaotic as it sounds. In this phase, the Behemoth will leap around the arena, unleashing combinations of attacks. These attacks are similar to its regular ones, like Charges and Exploding Puddles. Watch for patterns in the explosions to know when to dodge. The Behemoth ends this attack with a massive AOE Explosion, so watch for puddles or execute a perfect dodge to survive.
