Upgrades in Granblue Fantasy Relink is a feature that players can access and enjoy through the game's Blacksmith, just like Forging. Features that have to do with the Blacksmith mainly have to do with making adjustments to the characters' Equipment in the game, namely their Weapons and Sigils. Upgrading is a feature that allows the player to make their Weapons and Sigils stronger for the benefit of their characters. This is done through the Blacksmith, which is accessible in town areas and through Hallowed Grounds. The process of Upgrading Weapons and Sigils each consumes specific resources that players will have to have ready. This page provides guides on how Upgrades in the game work.

Granblue Fantasy Upgrades Guide

Granblue Fantasy Equipment Upgrades Overview

In Granblue Fantasy Relink, players will mainly have two things to manage in terms of upgrades and modifications for their characters' Equipment - their Weapons and their Sigils. Weapons can generally give the character raw stats in addition to giving them specific Traits. As the game doesn't really have armor-type Equipment for the characters, Weapons also give additional HP to the characters, depending on the Weapon type. Sigils on the other hand just straight up give more Traits to the character. These more or less function as the accessory-type Equipment in the game.

Upgrading Weapons will increase these raw stats and can also level their innate Traits up, giving players an overall boost for the characters who can wield them. Upgrading Weapons also has an effect on a specific section of the corresponding character's Masteries that has nodes the player can unlock depending on how many of that character's Weapons they've collected and how much they've upgraded it. Upgrading Sigils on the other hand will increase the level of the Traits that they provide. Players can then stack appropriate Sigils on a character to increase the overall level of that Trait.

Where to Find Upgrade Materials in GBFR

Upgrade Materials can be found in numerous ways in Granblue Fantasy Relink. Players will be able to find a lot of them just by bulldozing through Enemies in the open world. Bosses in the Main Quests may also drop some materials depending on their creature type and how far along the player is in the story. However, specific materials that players will need can mostly be found more reliably through Side Quests, especially when it comes to Upgrade Materials.

Treasure Trade is a useful feature that players can also use to get any missing materials they need on the fly. It's accessible through Siero's Knickknack Shack which players can go to through Hallowed Grounds. By trading multiple minor Treasure they've found through Quests and exploration, they can get back materials they need for the specific upgrades they want for their Weapons or Sigils.

How does the Wish List System Works in GBFR

The Wish List System is a convenient feature in Granblue Fantasy Relink that serves as a tool for players to easily farm any materials they need especially when dealing with the available features at the Blacksmith. When at the menu for Upgrading Weapons and Sigils, players can click the option to look at the Details of the Required Treasure or materials for the process, which will allow them to view each material. Here they can press a dedicated button to put that material in their Wish List if they don't have it or need more of it. They can even add how many of it specifically they want to get. When players select and accept Quests, they will see any materials on their Wish List highlighted by a small magnifying glass, making it easier for them to sort out which Quests they can complete to farm the materials they need.

Players will also see this indication when browsing through Siero's shop through the Hallowed Grounds, so they can easily select materials they need to trade for to do their desired Upgrades.

Granblue Fantasy Relink Upgrading Weapons

What are Weapons in GBF Relink

Weapons in Granblue Fantasy Relink are the characters' main Equipment and serve to deal damage to Enemies as well as contribute to the characters' Stats. Each Weapon provides a different set of stats and effects that improve a character's overall prowess. Each character can wield only a specific set of Weapons, but each one can be under any of the five Weapon types, each of which contributes a different spread of Stat points and different Traits.

Weapons have their own levels which are what get increased when players Upgrade them at the Blacksmith. When their levels increase, the Weapon's base stats increase as well, which affects the character's overall Stats.

For more information about Weapons and a list of the Weapon types in the game, visit our page here.

How to Upgrade Weapons in GBF Relink

Players can see their Weapons' current levels just by selecting them from the Inventory or Gear section of the Main Menu. When players access the Blacksmith to Upgrade their Weapons, either in towns or through Hallowed Grounds, they'll be able to see the Weapon's current level, the maximum level it can attain, or its Capped Max Level. Players can then choose to spend Fortitude materials to increase the Weapon EXP as much as they desire.

A Fortitude Shard increases the EXP by 10, while the Fortitude Crystal (S) and Fortitude Crystal (M) increase the Weapon EXP by 60 and 200 respectively, and so on. Players will also already be able to see how much it costs to go on with the upgrade. They can also click on the Auto Level button to distribute the Fortitude materials automatically to attain the highest level that the Weapon can get to, considering its current Max Level Cap, and the materials you have on hand.

How to Uncap Max Level of Weapons in GBFR

Once Weapons are Upgraded to reach their current Max Level Cap, they won't be able to be Upgraded any longer. Instead, the option to Uncap their Max Level will now be able to be selected. When viewing their Weapons, players can see six hollow stars beside the weapon level. These stars get filled out each time the Weapon's level gets uncapped. At one star, the maximum level of the Weapon is increased to 30, then 50 for two stars, 75 for three stars, and so on.

fullweapons4 equipment magic granblue fantasy relink wiki guide

Weapons can be uncapped and be leveled up to a maximum level of 120. Uncapping and filling up stars will entail using up various iterations of Refinium materials, depending on what rank they are being increased to. Standard Refinium is used to Uncap Weapons at zero stars to two stars, while Quality Refinium is used to Uncap Weapons above two stars. Starting at three stars, Champion Merit, along with other materials will be needed to continue Uncapping Max Levels. It's important to note that uncapping a Weapon's Max Level will also increase the level of the Trait that it comes with each time.

What are Traits in GBF Relink

Traits are the bonuses granted by Sigils when they are equipped. However, each Weapon also grants a specific Trait in line with its Weapon Type. Stronger Weapons might also grant more than one Trait when equipped. The bonuses that Traits grant can range from additional Stats to specialized passives useful for certain playstyles. For example, the Tyranny Trait cuts down the character's health for a proportional increase in ATK damage. This Trait fits playstyles of characters that can either be played as glass cannons or who already have high HP or defenses, to begin with, and so can take the HP cut for a more offensive tank playstyle.

Traits are essentially what players will use and juggle to fully customize the game's characters however they would want to play them. Characters can equip a certain number of Sigils which gives these Traits, and will unlock more slots of them as they get stronger and unlock Masteries.

For more information on Traits and a list of all the Traits in the game, visit our page for them here.

Granblue Fantasy Relink Upgrading Sigils

What are Sigils in GBF Relink

Sigils are a special type of Equipment that adds further customization for players who enjoy diversifying their gameplay by taking advantage of additional stats and more effects. Similar to Weapons, Sigils provide different Traits that grant unique effects and raw Stats to Granblue Fantasy Relink Characters. Any member of your party can equip a limited number of Sigils at the beginning, but this number will increase as they progress and make their characters stronger. Sigils are divided into rarities - Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary.

upgrades6 equipment magic granblue fantasy relink wiki guide

A Sigil rarity also corresponds to the Sigil's Tier which can be seen beside the Sigil's name. For example, an HP I Sigil is of Common rarity, while HP II and HP III are of Uncommon and Rare rarity respectively. The higher the tier of the Sigil, the more potential there is for it to be able to grant a stronger Trait that corresponds to it. Upgrading Sigils will increase the level of the Trait it grants the character.

How to Upgrade Sigils in GBF Relink

As previously mentioned, Sigils have different rarities that correspond with the tiers that are shown beside their names. These tiers also seem to correspond to the maximum level that the Traits in these Sigils can be upgraded to and thus show their potential to give stronger boosts. At Common rarity or the first tier, Traits can't be leveled up and are already at maximum level 1. At Uncommon rarity or the second tier, Traits have a maximum level of 3. Rare Sigils, or third-tier Sigils, have Traits that can be upgraded to a maximum level of six. Epic Sigils can be upgraded to a maximum level of 10, and Legendaries can be raised to a max level of 15.

upgrades7 equipment magic granblue fantasy relink wiki guide

Just like Weapons, Sigils are upgraded at the Blacksmith, either in towns or through Hallowed Grounds, as long as players have enough of the required materials. Along with other loot drops, players will need Prism Chips to level up their Sigils. The higher the level they're being raised to, the more Prism Chips are needed for the process.

Can I Uncap Sigils in GBF Relink

Unlike Weapons, Sigils are unfortunately capped at the maximum level they have, in whichever tier or rarity they are. Players can only upgrade them to a certain extent until their levels cannot be raised anymore. However, also unlike Weapons, players will eventually be able to have their characters equip more than a few Sigils, which stacks effects that their Traits contribute. When viewing all the Traits of a character, players will be able to see the levels of the Traits themselves combined and stacked together.

Do Sigils Start at Lowest Level in GBFR

Sigils can be acquired from numerous sources, like chests in the open world, rewards for killing Enemies and Bosses, and loot from clearing Side Quests. When acquired, Sigils can already be leveled up to a certain extent, which makes it so that players don't have to spend as much resources maxing them out. Higher level Sigils can be obtained at Endgame through Side Quests, and eventually through Siero's Knickknack Shack.

Postgame Weapon Upgrades in Granblue Fantasy: Relink

Imbue Weapons in Granblue Fantasy Relink

After clearing the last Main Quest, Final Chapter: ID, players will unlock higher difficulties of Side Quests at the Quest Counter, as well as the new Transmute Sigils feature at Siero's Knickknack Shop. Some of these new Side Quests will reward them with a Wrightstone, which is a new Upgrade material of sorts available to the player. They can also acquire one by a slim chance using the Transmute Sigils feature. Once players receive one, they will be alerted that they can make new Upgrades to their Weapons at the Blacksmith.

upgrades8 equipment magic granblue fantasy relink wiki guide

To Imbue their Weapons, players will need to consume a Wrightstone. Each Wrightstone will have a set of Traits attached to it, which will be transferred to the Weapon through this process. Each Wrightstone can have different Traits, even if they have similar names. This makes it possible for Weapons to have additional Traits apart from their innate initial ones. These Traits will have varying levels as well.

Mirage Munitions in GBF Relink

Mirage Munitions are special materials that players can get through Trophy rewards from Lyria's Journal or by completing high difficulty Side Quests. When players visit the Blacksmith with these materials, they are given the option to add or remove these munitions from their selected Weapon. Each added munition grants the Weapon a slight boost to both its HP and ATK Stats, as well as increases the count of its Plus Marks, which determine how many Mirage Munitions are applied to the Weapon.

Mirage Munitions make it so that WeaponsStats can still be improved even after they reach their maximum level of 120.
