What are Traits in Granblue Fantasy Relink

Character Progression plays a pivotal role in Granblue Fantasy Relink especially when tackling higher levels of content. Traits affect a character's stats significantly, thus making them more effective in combat. Traits can come in the form of unique passives, like dealing more damage in exchange for lowering your health, or raw Stat boosts, which means increasing your HP, Attack, Stun Power, or Critical Hit Rate. As such, Traits are pivotal in not just improving a character's prowess but also creating different character builds that will require different sets of Traits.

Traits are one of the key aspects of increasing one character's prowess in combat. These special passive governs almost every stat in the game. An example would be an HP I, II, or III which increases the character's total HP.

How do Traits Work in GBF Relink

Traits are mainly granted by Equipment that the characters use. In Granblue Fantasy Relink, this means just two pieces of gear - Weapons and Sigils. Each character can only wield a specific set of Weapons, which is cohesive with each of their playstyles and how their kits work. Each Weapon has at least one innate Trait that it grants its user. This Trait levels up every time a Weapon's maximum level is uncapped.

fullweapons4 equipment magic granblue fantasy relink wiki guide

Sigils on the other hand will mainly be used for granting Traits as they offer no other raw Stats to contribute, unlike Weapons. All of these Traits, from Weapons and Sigils, stack together to form all of the Traits that the character has active, as long as they have the corresponding Equipment equipped.

How to Upgrade Traits in Equipment in GBF Relink

As previously mentioned, Traits in Weapons can only be increased in level when that Weapon has its max level uncapped. Given that a Weapon can only be uncapped for a maximum of six times, the Trait(s) that it has cannot really grow as much. However, given the limits of Sigils in the early to mid-game, this is a great way to give your characters a quick boost.

Traits in Sigils on the other hand get upgraded along with their Sigils. Because each Sigil can only be upgraded to a certain max level dictated by their Tiers, Trait-upgrading with Sigils is also limited. However, characters can eventually equip multiple Sigils, which allows them to build together multiple Traits, and even multiple instances of the same Traits.

upgrades7 equipment magic granblue fantasy relink wiki guide

In post-game, players will have the chance to Imbue Weapons with more Traits on top of their few innate initial Traits, which makes it even more worth it to uncap them to the maximum level, therefore increasing the levels of multiple Traits at once. Players will also have the chance to get Tier IV-V Sigils and Sigils with plus signs, which are Sigils that have higher maximum levels and Sigils that have more than one Trait, respectively.

For more information on how to Upgrade both Sigils and Weapons, from early-game to post-game, visit our Upgrades page here.

How to Get More Sigils in GBF Relink?

Getting more Sigils is a must so the user can experiment with both higher numbers and higher levels of Traits in the long run. Juggling Traits will be the name of the game in post-game, and when the game gets updated with impossible-level Quests. Sigils are one of the easiest ways to stack more Traits on a certain character so it is a must to get more Sigils to progress your game. Players can mainly get more Sigils from chests when exploring different levels, boss drops, and quest rewards.

Postgame Sigils and Wrightstones in GBF Relink

After you finish the main campaign and earn your Veteran Skyfarer Rank, you’ll have access to Quick Quests at the Quest Counter, along with higher-difficulty Quests. Sigils you get from drops or as rewards for completing higher-difficulty Quests have a chance to be high-tiered. You can also obtain Wrightstones from these Quests, which are used to Imbue Weapons with more Traits. Completing Quick Quests also rewards you with Dalia Badges which you can trade at Siero’s Knickknack Shop for Tier IV and V Sigils, along with Sigils with plus signs which means they carry more than one Trait.

upgrades8 equipment magic granblue fantasy relink wiki guide

When you reach the Zegagrande Legend Skyfarer Rank, which gives you access to Maniac and Proud difficulty Quests, you’ll also get access to character-specific Sigils. These Sigils give strong Traits that work well for how a character was intended to be used. They can be acquired at the Treasure Trade feature at Siero’s for high-level monster drops and rare materials. At this point, you'll also be able to unlock the Transmute Sigils feature at Siero's. This allows you to exchange Knickknack Vouchers for a chance at a random Sigil. The higher the level of transmutation you choose, the rarer the pool of Sigils will be. Wrightstones can also be obtained randomly with this feature.

Can you Stack Traits in Granblue Fantasy Relink?

As mentioned above, Traits will have different maximum levels, depending on what Sigils they come from. This means each Sigil will have a higher-tier version, which can be obtained from various means when progressing in the game. The higher the level of a Sigil, the higher the level of its Trait, which means the stronger the effect. The image below illustrates two different-tiered Sigils and their different Trait levels. First-tier Sigils cannot be upgraded, while second-tier Sigils can be raised to a maximum level of 3. Tier 3 Sigils can be maxed out to level 6, Tier 4 Sigils to level 10, and Tier 5 to level 10.

traits 3 granblue fantasy relink wiki guide mintraits 2 granblue fantasy relink wiki guide min

With both Sigils equipped it would provide the character with an Attack Boost level of 4 which provides ATK +10. Players can check how all a character's Traits stack together by clicking on the Traits button while they are viewing that character's loadout. With the above examples, one can see that Traits are indeed stackable, but not in the way we expect. Instead of granting the character a total of ATK+12, as provided by a level three ATK Trait (+8) and a level one ATK Trait (+4), it instead combines the levels of the Traits with the same effect and then grants the bonus appropriate to that Trait level. Players should keep a close eye on the effects of their desired Traits at certain levels to be able to optimize their boosts properly. Each Trait can have different maximum levels that they can stack to.
