GBF Relink Side Quests Guide
What are Quests in GBF Relink
Quests are a huge part of a Japanese Role-playing game. Often starts as simple quests such as fetch quests or killing relatively weak enemies. That will, later on, revolve into grand endeavors such as saving the world or defeating the most powerful adversary in the universe. In Granblue Fantasy Relink, Quests are mainly divided into two types: Main Quests and Side Quests. Main Quests are Quests that progress the game's story and are usually mandatory for the player to go through unless the narrative features a branching path wherein a choice closes off one Main Quest for the other.
Side Quests on the other hand are purely optional and can be skipped for the entirety of a player's playthrough. In this game, over a hundred Side Quests are available for players to enjoy, and most of them can even be played by multiplayer co-op. While completely optional and not required to progress the game's story, Side Quests play a large role in making the player's characters stronger and progressing their levels and Equipment. Side Quests add significant replay value to the game and will feature diversified goals and engaging boss battles.
When and How To Do Side Quests in GBF Relink
Side Quests get unlocked as early as the first Chapter of the game's Main Campaign, when you arrive at Folca Town. Once you're able to roam around and speak to your crewmates who are exploring the new town, you'll be able to see NPCs around town that give them. You can speak to them to confirm the details of a Side Quest they're offering, and then accept it if you'd like to.
Later on in the same chapter, after meeting Rolan, you'll be able to access the town's Quest Counter for another type of Side Quest that can be selected and undertaken through the Quest Counter. NPC Sidequests mostly entail gathering different Treasures or Items and delivering them back to the client, while Quest Counter Side Quests will automatically transport you to a specific Location to fight Enemies, depending on what the Side Quest entails.
What are the Types of Side Quests in GBFR
NPC Sidequests
As mentioned previously, NPC Sidequests are undertaken by speaking to certain NPCs that are found in town areas. You'll spot them clearly as in-game models with a speech bubble containing the Quest icon. Once you speak to them, you'll see the list of Items that they'll ask you to procure, or the list of Enemies you have to slay, as well as the list of rewards that you can get when you complete the Side Quest. If you've put any upgrade materials in your Wish List, they'll be seen here with the small magnifying glass icon.
Quest Counter Sidequests
When you speak to the NPC at the Quest Counter, you'll be able to undertake these Quest Counter Sidequests. When you select one from the list, you'll be able to see your main objective for the Quest, the different rewards you can get from them, and the side goals you can try to achieve that grant additional rewards. If you've put any upgrade materials in your Wish List, they'll be seen here with the small magnifying glass icon as well. Undertaking one will have you be transported automatically to where the quest will take place, and you'll also automatically return to town once you've finished. The following are the different types of Quest Counter Side Quests, each specializing in certain types of rewards and different overall objectives:
- Boss
- Horde
- Conquest
- Survival
- Defend
- Explore

How to Unlock More Side Quests in Granblue Fantasy Relink
In general, players can unlock more and more Quests as they progress through the main campaign, and as they do more and more Side Quests. For NPC Side Quests, it can be as easy as progressing through certain points in the story, and reaching the town areas where you can find the relevant NPCs. Quest Counter Side Quests however have special requirements when you reach the end of the story and enter into Chapter Zero, marking the start of post-game. Quest Counter Side Quests can also be divided into three groups aside from their types, each depending on the required Skyfarer Rank to undertake them. Each Skyfarer Rank allows players to undertake higher difficulties
How to Increase Skyfarer Rank in GBF Relink
The Skyfarer Rank marks your reputation as a Skyfaring crew in Zegagrande. The higher your rank is, the more difficult the Side Quests you are allowed to undertake. Naturally, the higher the difficulty, the better their rewards. For most of the game, you'll be stuck as a Novice Skyfarer, which allows you to undertake Easy and Normal difficulty Side Quests from the Quest Counter. More Side Quests of the same difficulty will pop up as you clear more and more of them.
After you finish the main campaign, you'll automatically increase your rank to Veteran Skyfarer, allowing you access to Hard, Very Hard, and Extreme difficulty Side Quests. From there, you'll have to do Side Quests that are marked as Key Quests and Rank Up Quests to advance the story of Chapter Zero. Eventually, you'll have to defeat the final boss of Chapter Zero, which will be Bahamut Versa Omega. When you completely finish the story of Chapter Zero, you'll reach Zegagrande Legend rank, which grants you access to Extreme and Proud difficulty Side Quests. Note that within each rank, you'll have to finish Rank Up Quests to access the higher difficulties granted by that rank.
How to Unlock Higher Difficulty Quests in GBF Relink
As aforementioned, once you reach a new Skyfarer Rank, like Veteran Skyfarer, you'll be granted access to Side Quests of higher difficulties at the Quest Counter. However, you'll only be allowed to undertake the lowest of those difficulties at first. When you reach the Veteran Skyfarer rank after clearing the main story, for example, you can only undertake Hard difficulty Side Quests first. After clearing the Key Quests needed to unlock the Rank Up Quest, and then also completing the Rank Up Quest, you'll gain access to the next difficulty which is Very Hard difficulty.
Completing Key Quests and Rank Up Quest will also progress the post-game story of Chapter Zero. To unlock the Very Hard difficulty, you'll have to work your way up and through the post-game story until you fight and defeat the Ancient Dragon. Afterward, you'll have to rinse and repeat the process until you fight and defeat the shadow version of Id to unlock the Extreme difficulty. After you get the Zegagrande Legend rank you'll unlock the Maniac difficulty and you'll have to repeat the same process to unlock the Proud difficulty. Unlocking a difficulty will give players a set of rewards each time.
