Unlocking Offense Mastery Progression

The nodes in Offense Mastery Progression are locked behind Main Story Progression. As you first unlock Masteries in Chapter 1: The Western Frontier, you will be able to unlock nodes only up to a certain level. As you get further down the Mastery nodes, you will see a red line with a note limiting the progression. Players will need to clear certain chapters before further nodes will be unlocked, in this specific progression, Chapter 5: Shadows in the Snowscape is needed to be cleared to unlock the next set of Mastery Progression. After that, players will need to continue navigating and completing the Main Story to unlock more Masteries nodes. This mechanic applies to both Offense and Defense Masteries.

After completing the story and the Endgame content, players will need to complete Side Quests of higher difficulty to progress Offense Mastery nodes. The Masteries Progression will then be tied up to the current difficulty tier, which can be progressed by completing specific Side Quests of higher difficulty (Hard, Very Hard, Extreme, Maniac). As you unlock the next difficulty of Side Quests, more Mastery nodes will unlock across all characters.

Collection Mastery in Granblue Fantasy Relink

Weapons Collection Mastery Mechanics

Collection Mastery is a unique node progression system that is unlocked after the first time you uncap the maximum level of any weapon. This unique system includes a lineup of Weapons that your character can use in combat and presents a linear node path. Players can earn various effects that are a mix of Offensive and Defensive stats tied up to specific weapons. The good thing about this Mastery is that the character will keep the stat boosts even if they are no longer using that weapon.

5 information masteries granblue fantasy relink wiki guide

Collection Mastery is different from Offense and Defense Mastery node progression. The Collection nodes do not have the branch system like the other Masteries but it presents a linear progression that follows the weapon's current level and provides passive effects. The effects are also a mix of Offensive and Defensive stats available only to that Weapon and Character.

When unlocking a Collection Mastery node, players can see on the menu the Effects/Stats to be gained by purchasing that node. At the bottom right of the menu, you will see the Mastery Points (MSP) needed to unlock that node.

How to Unlock Collection Mastery

You can unlock the third Mastery after uncapping the maximum level of any Weapon of your choice. To begin, you’ll need a fully upgraded weapon so you can uncap it. Then, the second item you’ll need is a Refinium to uncap the Max Level of the weapon. Once you have the material, take it to the Blacksmith in Town (or you can also visit the Hallowed Ground to do upgrades if you’re in the middle of completing a Chapter).

uncapping max level collection masteries granblue fantasy relink wiki guide

From the Blacksmith or Hallowed Ground, select the Upgrade Weapons menu, and choose the Weapon that you want to uncap. I used a Level 10/10 Sword of Eos and uncapped it using the Refinium. This process raised the level cap from Level 10 to Level 30. After doing this, Weapon Collection Bonuses will now be unlocked in the Mastery.

Go to the Main Menu this time, and view Masteries. You will see a third tab showing: Collection. Just like the other nodes, you will need Mastery Points (MSP) to purchase a node under this category. The difference between the other two categories is that the Collection Mastery doesn’t have the branch system the Offense and Defense have, but instead, it features a linear progression locked behind Weapon levels.

Collection Mastery Passives and Effects

Characters can earn various effects that will increase their effectiveness in combat. Some effects are unique to characters and there are also general effects, buffs, and passive that you can commonly find in characters. You can find some of the effects and passives below:

  • Health Points +
  • Critical Hit Rate +%
  • Enemy Debuffs
  • Attack Power +
  • Elemental Damage +
  • Friendly Buff

Unlocking Collection Mastery Progression

The nodes in Collection Mastery Progression are locked behind Weapon Level Progression. As you first unlock Collection Masteries, you will be able to unlock nodes only up to the weapon's certain level. As you level up Collection Mastery, you will see a note at the bottom limiting the progression. Players will need to reach a specific level to further unlock the Collection Mastery Progression.

Each Collection Node upgrade requires the weapon to reach a certain level found below:

  • Weapon Level 20
  • Weapon Level 50
  • Weapon Level 75
  • Weapon Level 100
  • Weapon Level 125
  • Weapon Level 150

What are Masteries in Granblue Fantasy?

All playable Characters in Granblue Fantasy Relink follow a special progression path. Players can view this by going to the Mastery menu to advance their Character Masteries under Offense, Defense, and Collection. The specialized progression system enables players to unlock unique nodes that offer additional stats, talents, new skills, and various upgrades.

1 information masteries granblue fantasy relink wiki guide

These nodes are powerful on their own, and together, these will contribute to an overall improvement in the character's prowess and turn them into a powerhouse. Players will ultimately decide on the type of playstyle they want to get out of each character.

A Familiar System

Masteries Systems have a great resemblance to other systems introduced in other games in the past, especially RPG games and the like. The nodes in the Mastery system feature a branching set of nodes that resemble a skill tree. This gives players the freedom to select or prioritize which upgrades they will go for.

Auto Unlock QoL Feature in Mastery

Auto Unlock is a feature that eases up selection for players. When you have a certain skill or node that you want to unlock that is further down the progression, you can choose that node and the system will automatically select previous nodes that will work best with that. You will see this in the form of a yellow line connecting each node as you reach the final chosen node.

You can also see the total MSP cost needed to unlock all nodes needed to reach your desired skill, stat, or utility in Masteries. Auto Unlock in Granblue Fantasy Relink is a great feature that will lessen the time in choosing nodes and will let you get ready for combat with just a few taps of a button.

The Benefits of Masteries

As the player progresses into the Main Story Quests or even tackles Side Quests, it is expected that end-game quests will be more challenging thus, players are encouraged to take advantage of any upgrades that they can get. This is where Masteries comes in. It will provide various Character upgrades such as new Skills, stats boosts, and more. When you upgrade your Equipment and do the same with the character progression, you are bound to fulfill the goal of turning your character into one of the strongest.

Mastery Points in Granblue Fantasy Relink

Mastery Points refer to the currency needed to purchase nodes in the character's Mastery. Each of the characters has a progression independent from the others and it is important to properly allocate the Mastery Points that you have. Mastery Points in Granblue Fantasy Relink can be earned in various ways:

  • Mastery Points are earned as characters level up
  • Found in the field while exploring
  • Can be retrieved from Chests and Treasures
  • Normal Story Progression

In Grablue Fantasy Relink, Mastery Points (MSP) are shared across all characters despite having independent character progressions. At the moment, there's no respec mechanic or node refund that we have explored. Before purchasing a node, make sure that you have decided on a path that you want to take for that character because you will be stuck with it. In contrast, having shared MSP will let you prioritize the mastery of your preferred party members without having to spend MSP on characters that you don't use.

Unlock Special Effects and Skills

The main point of Masteries is to heighten a character's potential to the fullest. By unlocking more nodes, players can enjoy special passive effects that provide more advantages in combat, unlock additional stats, and ultimately, unlock more Skills. Characters can also unlock various effects to effectively take down enemies or nullify incoming attacks.
