Goblin Warrior Fight Strategy

The Best Tips for Goblin Warrior:

The Goblin Warrior wields a sword and shield making its backside the most vulnerable place for him. This makes his backside the optimum place to position yourself and deal your melee attacks which is also the best place to position yourself in order to avoid his line of sight and his general forward melee attack. During the fight as you face the Goblin Warrior, watch out for other smaller Goblin mobs in the arena.

The Goblin Warrior is generally slow-moving. He may hold his shield up and turn his shield to face you, but you can easily continue to circle around him and continue to attack where he is unprotected. Apply pressure and continue attacking. Once in a while, the Goblin Warrior will make a huge leap and dive forward forcing him to recover and temporarily incapacitating him as he holds his position. This is the best time to run in and deal as much damage as you can before his next attack.

The Goblin Warrior's attacks tend to expand or increase in size and speed once his Mode bar fills and he reaches Overdrive which would put him into Bloodthirst. Watch for his large AoE attacks that can surround his general vicinity. There will be a few signs of the attacks before the larger AoE attack follows through. The Goblin Warrior's big skills will also be announced on the screen as they occur so watch out for when it deals the Shield Slam. As soon as you see the attack begin, the skill title will appear on the screen. His larger-scale attacks and ranged attacks will have a brief indicator so you can watch the ground to see which areas to avoid. In Overdrive, the Goblin Warrior can throw or fling chunks of rocks and boulders around the arena while erratically swinging his sword or shield. While these string of AoE attacks are occurring, it's best to focus on preservation and avoiding attack and only run in when you find a window.

Without the chaotic AoE combos, you should be able to consistently apply pressure and attack his backside which will give you the greatest successful hits all while also avoiding most of his attacks. Just watch out for any indicator of an AoE or a larger swing attack by watching his sword and actions. The Goblin Warrior will be quick to clear if you are consistent.

Goblin Warrior Attacks & Counters

Attack Description Counter
Roar The Goblin Warrior lets out a resounding roar that can push back nearby opponents The roar does not necessarily do damage especially when you are positioned behind the Goblin Warrior. It puts distance between you and the Goblin, so you will need to run back in to continue your attacks if you were relying on your melee attacks.
Shield Lunge The Goblin Warrior can lunge forward with its shield Keep to his backside and steer clear from the front of his shield when it is wielded to avoid getting shoved or taking damage.
Shield Charge With the shield equipped, the Goblin Warrior will charge and run ahead knocking those in its path With the shield equipped keep to the Goblin Warrior's backside and once he charges in another direction, you can follow behind him and continue attacking.
Overhead swing A basic overhead melee swing of the sword. The Goblin Warrior may leap as this attack is dealt and follow through with a strike Keeping behind the Goblin Warrior will keep you out of the attack area of this swing.
Basic sword swing A basic melee side swing. This can be dealt in a combo. Dodge back or circle around him as he swings his sword.
Uppercut Swing The Goblin Warrior stabs his sword toward the ground before yanking it up in an uppercut Continue to focus your attacks on its backside and you can continue your attacks uninterrupted as long you keep to his back.
360 Spin Swing The Goblin Warrior spins with his sword 360 as he repels forward. He draws his arm back just before his attack. Try to dodge backward and away just before his attack.
Dive The Goblin Warrior leaps forward into a dive, crashing into those ahead of him.  If you stay close to him, the Goblin Warrior leaps relatively far and his landing area can easily be avoided unless you are unlucky.
Overdrive
Stomping AoE  The Goblin Warrior stomps three times before exerting an AoE blast surrounding. This attack is usually dealt once the Goblin Warrior heads into Overdrive.  Look for any signs of the beginnings of this attack and you should have enough time to back away from the area of effect.
Ground Shockwave - Shield Slam The Shield Slam is a multi-part attack that can begin with a shield swing before the Goblin Warrior slams his shield on the ground sending a shockwave through the ground. The Goblin Warrior can repeatedly slam his shield and the ground and continue to send shockwaves through the ground around him.  Once the attack begins, clear out of the way of the Goblin Warrior and watch for the direction that he slams his shield so you can dodge out of the way and continue to stay out of his line of sight.
Shield Rock Fling The Goblin Warrior digs his shield into the ground and flings a chunk of ground around him. This will knock over anyone in the path of the swing and send chunks of rocks flying through the air before they crash into the ground. Each rock chunk landing zone will be marked on the ground with a red ring just before they land. The inner circle will indicate the time before the boulder makes contact.  Just as the Goblin Warrior digs his shield into the ground, immediately clear the area to avoid getting knocked. Wait for the rock markers to appear on the ground and stand in a clear spot that isn't marked to avoid getting hit by any boulders. Find a clear spot away from the red rings before the inner red circle expands and reaches the outer circle since this is when the boulder will hit the ground.
Body Slam The Goblin Warrior throws its body into the area before slamming into the ground. The area of effect will be marked on the ground and as soon as the attack begins, the circle around him will begin to expand.  As soon as the Goblin Warrior begins to leap, the marker will appear indicating the area of effect. This is the area you will need to stay out of to avoid taking damage or getting knocked over.
